Will I need to redo the service after my hair starts to grow out?
The average retouch for this service is 4 to 6 months after the original service. A minimum of two inches of re-growth is necessary for a proper, effective retouch. Because the timing of buffering, application, and processing of the service is no different during the retouch application than the initial service, pricing is consistent for all Thermal Hair Straightening services.
Some tips for the day of your appointment...
Wear comfortable clothing to your appointment. We will ask you to change into a service gown to protect your clothing. Bring a lunch and/or snacks and plenty of reading materials of your choice. Salon will also have magazines to read. It will be a long day.
Do not shampoo your hair on the day of your Thermal Hair Straightening service.
During the service, a number of solutions will be applied to your hair, processed, sometimes under the dryer, and then rinsed out.
Next, your hair will be 80% dried and will look frizzy. Your hair will then be extensively flat ironed straight. Tension must be used, so you will feel some pulling during this part of the service.
Results depend on the texture and previous chemical services on the hair. In some cases it will be necessary to do a small amount of daily styling to achieve the desired results.
If you desire some flexibility in your hair after the process, so that the hair will still respond to a round brush or rollers, the service will need to be "underprocessed." In this case it will be absolutely necessary to spend time styling your hair after each shampoo. Hair may revert back to curl in certain areas.
Best Results Tips
Your hair CANNOT get wet for 48 hours after the service. This means no shampooing, rinsing, styling, etc. Don't even get caught in the rain! No ponytails, no hairpins, and no tucking the hair behind the ears.
A follow-up for conditioning treatment is included in the service and should be scheduled within 2 weeks after the service.

What is a Japanese "Thermal" Relaxer and is it for me?
Japanese Relaxers, aka Thermal Re-conditioners, are a Thio based chemical. They are used on wavy to curly hair. It is used with a thermal flat Iron, to get the hair as straight as possible. This is a time consuming procedure. It usually takes four to six hours to complete this service. However this service is not recommended for excessively curly and/or Afro hair.
What is a Perm / Body wave?
Perms are Ammonium Thioglycolate or Acid based chemicals, which are used to give the hair a permanent curl or wave. The type of curl or wave given, is determined by the rod or roller used, not the perm (chemical) it self. The smaller the rod the tighter and smaller the curl will be. Perms usually lose up, but don't completely fall out, they simply grow out.
A body wave is a perm that is given using big rollers; therefore getting a big lose wave designed to give body, not curl. Body waves are not permanent and they tend to not last more than six to eight weeks.
